Mandawa is the heart of Shekhawati region located in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. The city is known for the Forts and Havelis. This place is known for its culture and social life. The reduced and occupied market town of Mandawa was settled and sustained in the eighteenth century by the prevailing trade groups of the locale. The rich representatives of the town built numerous Havelis and Baolis with shaded painting decorating their walls. This place is situated in the North Indian state of Rajasthan away 190 km from Jaipur city. The forts and Havelis are well connected with the other cities through good roads.

  • Nawalgarh Fort is built in 1737 and located nearby 37 km from Mandawa in South. Top attractions include Havelis of Khendwal Bhavan, Hem Raj Kulwal, Bhagton ki Haveli, Aath Haveli and Anandi Lal Poddar.
  • Mukungarh is a tiny village famous for its Havelis and Fort, located in the southeast of Mandawa.
  • The place of Muslim nawabs is known as a capital is Fatehpur was established in 1451 but it was taken by the Shekhawat Rajputs in the eighteenth century. Other places to visit include Gauri Shankar haveli, Mahavir Prasad Goenka Haveli, Harikrishnan Das Sarogi haveli and Nand Lal Devra Haveli.
  • Must visit places: Bihariji Temple, Modi Haveli, Kaniram Naringhdas Tiberwala Haveli and Khetri Mahal.
  • Dundlod is famous for Forts and Havelis is around 30 km southeast of Mandawa. Some of the attractions include Satyanarayan Temple, Tunganram Goenka Haveli, and Jagathia Haveli.

Best time to visit

Like the majority of alternate places in North India, Mandawa too has an outrageous atmosphere. The summers can be exceptionally hot with the mercury touching 40.5°C, though winters can be cold and the temperature can fall underneath 10°C. The best season to visit this place is winter i.e. October to March. The yearly precipitation is between 45 to 60 cm. Suggested garments are light tropical for summer and light woolen for winter.
